A PC is never truly a gamer PC unless it has some fancy RGB lighting right? Now easier to control than ever with OpenRGB 1.0 released.
What is it? The developer explains it as - "One of the biggest complaints about RGB is the software ecosystem surrounding it. Every manufacturer has their own app, their own brand, their own style. If you want to mix and match devices, you end up with a ton of conflicting, functionally identical apps competing for your background resources. On top of that, these apps are proprietary and Windows-only. Some even require online accounts. What if there was a way to control all of your RGB devices from a single app, on Windows, Linux, and MacOS, without any nonsense? That is what OpenRGB sets out to achieve. One app to rule them all."
As for the new stuff in the 1.0 release - rather a lot. In the release notes the developer mentioned "This monumental release encompasses nearly 3 years of work since the 0.9 release, and a year's worth of core reworks since the 1.0rc2 release candidate last year. Tons of new device support, an overhauled profile system, the option to cleanly run as a background service, PawnIO, Qt6, and much more!"
There's seemingly no clear changelog, but an earlier release candidate did also note some specific bits including:
