Zelda Ocarina of Time Lost Woods

The Lost Woods is where you'll be headed not long after completing the Great Deku Tree dungeon and defeating Gohma in Ocarina of Time. Below, you'll find an overview of what objectives you'll be completing here, as well as the locations of any key collectibles in the area.

  • Child timeline
  • Adult timeline
  • Gold Skulltula locations
  • Heart Piece locations

Child timeline

As Child Link, there's just the one thing for you to do in the Lost Woods, and that's learn Saria's Song.

That said, you'll also be able to collect the following upgrades from the Lost Woods:

  • Bigger Deku Seeds Bag - Shoot the target in the Lost Woods three times.
  • Bigger Deku Nut Bag - Wear the Mask of Truth in the Forest Stage.
  • Biggest Deku Nut Bag - Destroy the boulder found just before the Sacred Grove.
  • Bigger Deku Sticks Bag - Attack the Business Scrub found by going left twice in the Lost Woods, then buy this from him.
  • Biggest Deku Sticks Bag - Wear the Skull Mask in the Forest Stage.

Adult timeline

As Adult Link, you'll need to go via the Lost Woods to reach the Sacred Grove later in the game. Here, you'll need to complete the Forest Temple dungeon and defeat Phantom Ganon.

Gold Skulltula locations

There are three Gold Skulltula to collect in Lost Woods. These are as follows:

Gold Skulltula #1 and #2:

To collect the following Gold Skulltula, you need to fill two Empty Bottles with bugs, then set these bugs free over the two patches of soft soil in the area as Child Link.

The first patch of soft soil (pictured below) is found in the area containing the bridge connecting Hyrule Field to the Lost Woods. You can't jump over this bridge, so take the left-hand path when you enter the Lost Woods to quickly find this soft soil.

The second patch of soft soil (pictured below) is in the area that contains the two Business Scrubs. To reach them, start from the Lost Woods/Kokiri Forest entrance, then go right, left, right, left and left again.

Gold Skulltula #3:

To collect this Gold Skulltula, you must visit the second patch of soft soil mentioned above as Adult Link at night, but only after you have planted a Magic Bean in this patch of soft soil as Child Link.

After planting the Magic Bean and returning here as Adult Link, you'll find a flying plant that'll drop you off at a Gold Skulltula.

Heart Piece locations

There are two Heart Pieces to collect in Lost Woods. These are as follows:

Heart Piece #1:

After learning Saria's Song in the Lost Woods, visit the Skull Kid (who is also located in the Lost Woods) as Child Link. To reach him, enter the Lost Woods via Kokiri Forest and go left.

Once you reach the Skull Kid, jump onto the tree stump opposite him and play Saria's Song to receive this Heart Piece.

Heart Piece #2:

Enter the Lost Woods via Kokiri Forest and go right to reach two Skull Kids. Stand on the tree stump that's opposite them and use your Ocarina, at which point the Skull Kids will challenge you to a memory minigame in which you must copy the musical notes that they play.

You'll then need to complete this minigame three times to receive a Heart Piece as your reward.

That's all for Lost Woods! For more on Ocarina of Time, take a look at how to use Amiibo, where to find all Empty Bottles, and how to learn the Sun Song, which allows you to freely change the time of day.
